UL 94
is a method used to determine the different flammability classes of plastics. The following classes are differentiated:
- HB: a horizontally positioned sample burns off slowly
- V-2: a vertically positioned sample expires within 30 seconds
- V-1: as V-2, but no burning drops of plastic melt allowed
- V-0: like V-1, but the flame quits within 10 seconds
The UL test mark is awarded by the American company Underwriters Laboratories®. UL certification means that representative samples of the product have been tested and evaluated and have met UL requirements. Further information is available at www.ul.com.
